Overview

Bullaj is collaborative design project focused on exploring the aesthetics of interaction. Inspired by the fictional character Davie Jones and his abstract perception of time, the team developed an alarm clock that allowed users to set time based on the amount of sunlight they wished to experience. The final design combined insights from interaction relabeling, experiential prototyping, and aesthetic storytelling. The artifact, Bullaj, went through two iterations, with the second version featuring a redesigned turning mechanism I made and a handle that afforded three distinct modes of interaction. The project emphasized the importance of making as a driver of progress and used aesthetics as a language to communicate function and narrative.
